A little funny...

At school we have been talking about the first Thanksgiving. Native Americans, Pilgrims, the feast that lasted three days, that sort of stuff. To check for comprehension of the subject, I asked the kids, "So, who was at the first Thanksgiving?" A little girl in the front row raised her hand and said, "I think my Grandma was there." No honey, your Grandma is downstairs. I don't think she was there. I think I need to rethink this lesson and emphasize the fact that this was a LONG time ago a little bit better.!

Elmo is getting old...

Ok, the last two weeks have not been pleasant. Getting through the end of the school year is always kind of crazy but our dear old dog has added quite a bit to the craziness...
Our sweet little Elmo is getting old.
So I take her in to get some paid meds for arthritis. They prescribe Rimadyl then take blood to check her liver. Don't give her the Rimadyl yet. Liver counts are too high, so they put her on antbiotics for 2 weeks. In the mean time, Elmo eats the entire bottle of pain meds! Yes, my dog over dosed on Rimadyl. She's at the vet for two days given the doggy version of epicak (stuff that makes you vomit) charcoal and IV fluids. Comes home, her liver counts are going down YIPPEE. About a week later, the dumb dog runs after a squirrel and blows out her ACL! Back to the vet we go. She needs a $1600 surgery and her liver counts are up to 900. Let me put this in perspective for you...her original count was 200, after a week of antibiotics it went down to 145, normal is somewhere around 107, and now it is at 900. Where's the emoticon with his eyes bugging out of his head?
What do we do now? It was the worst few days ever! I felt bad she was hobbling around on three legs. They can't operate until her counts go down. Will they go down? What if they don't go down? Are we going to have to put her to sleep? I can't do that! Do we have $1600 to pay for her surgery? Do we want to put her through that? Do we want to go through that? UGH!
After talking with a few neighbors they all said our vet's prices were very high. We even considered taking her to a vet in Door County that our neighbor's mom uses.
Well, after some calling around, my wonderful husband brought Elmo to a vet in Fox Lake who said he does the surgery for $800 and some change. I really need that emoticon with his eyes bugging out! She's on more antibiotics and pain meds and two herbal supplements. And as soon as her liver counts go down, she's having sugery!

We did it!!!

It's official!
Eric booked our Disney vacation yesterday.
YIPPEE!
I think I'm more excited about it than the kids.
I have been reading every Disney book I could find to plan this vacation.
Obsessed would be a good word for it.
I stayed up until midnight monday reading until Eric said,
"Jennifer go to bed NOW!"
Oops! Didn't help my cold at all.
Then Tuesday night I was up until about 10pm.
Seriously, WHAT WAS I THINKING?
And here we are at 9:30 on Wednesday night
I have a ton of laundry to do and I'm tinkering around with the computer.
Oh well, there are worse things I could be doing...
I'm off to read some more of my Disney books and do a little laundry.
Who am I kidding, I'm going to read!

This one's for you Mom...

Last night was morgan's fourth grade concert. Grandma wasn't able to go because she's been feeling a little under the weather. It was a combination of songs, poems and little skits done by the entire fourth grade! It was actually pretty cute! There are quite a few budding actors and actresses in the class.
In the first picture Morgan is in the second row from the top, third or fourth one in from the right. In this one she's in the center of the picture.

And here's the grand finale...

Morgan was only supposed to do one solo poem. But her friend had gotten herself so worked up over it that her mom called the music teacher and tried to get her out of it. Well, the music teacher suggested she have someone help her with it. I'm not sure if Kayla asked or Morgan volunteered but they were both up there and did a great job!!!

How appropriate...the poems title is Fear!

Proud Mommy Moment...

A couple weeks ago Morgan tells me, "Mom I'm in the spelling bee." Now I have just read the note from school saying that they were having a Spelling Bee in the classroom. "Oh, thats nice." I tell her. Then the next day at school, one of the Moms says to me, "Congratulations on Morgan making it to the School Spelling Bee!" Uh, what? "Yah, Morgan and (her daughter) are the classroom finalists going to the School Spelling Bee!" Ok, this is where I smack myself in the head. OH! That's what she was talking about!
Morgan has this bad habit of not giving me ALL the information about something. Most likely she's been thinking about it all day. But when it finally comes flying out of her mouth there is SO much info flying around in that brain of hers her mouth can't keep up with what her brain is trying to process! Thus, I end up with bits and pieces that don't make a whole lot of sense to me. Or I think that's all there is to it when there is really a lot more. Like this time.
Fast forward to last week. I get an invitation to the CQ School Spelling Bee! Get sub, hope boss isn't too upset with me and I show up (with Grandma) at the school. I didn't realize how nervous I would be!
I have got to tell you, I was SO proud of her! Out of 12 kids she made it to the last 5!!! Her word was infomercial. I don't even know how to spell it! She hesitated about half way through the word, lost her train of thought and spelled information. Oh well! There's always next year!
Good Job Morgan!!!
I have to get the pictures off my camera and I will post one here!

I've been tagged...

So, here's the deal for those that I Tag!
The Middle Name Game!
These are the rules:-You must post the rules before you give your answers. You must list one fact about yourself for each letter of your middle name. Each fact must begin with that letter. If you don't have a middle name, just use your maiden name. After you've been tagged, you need to up-date your blog with your middle name and answers. At the end of your post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and need to read your blog for details.)

Ok, my middle name is DAWN. Nice and short. Thanks Mom! :)
